Keep on keeping on

Day 114.  Nothing extraordinary to report today, but I'm still impressed with how the work continues.  Some of you may remember that the garage door first delivered was not what we ordered, so after some discussion, we asked for the one we originally ordered.  Normally when I visit, the garage door is up; I finally saw it down after quite a while.  And I do like this one better!                And inside the garage is where they deliver the goods.  Our cabinets came in yesterday!                                                                   There are A LOT of cabinets!                            One place I had not visited was the HVAC space, and the crawl space under the house.                     Roy's into that kind of stuff.  Not really my cup of tea.  But interesting, nonetheless.                        This is the crawl space next to the HVAC room.  The rock extends quite a way. And every house needs a poop storage tank!  I remember watching them construct the storage

Moving along

Day 108  Last time I wrote, I said we were waiting for the doors to be stained.  Well, that's been done, (waiting til they are installed before posting pics), so now the floor is going in.  Pretty exciting to see the progress.   Starting in the shower.  And of course, there's the rest of the house. The grey tile is for the entry way and kitchen. Most of the house, however, is a type of engineered wood.  This is the study (or bedroom #2).

Waiting Game

Day 99  So now we wait.  The doors are here.  Waiting to be stained (next week, hopefully). And the entry way/kitchen floor tiles are here.  As are our bathroom tiles.  All just need to wait until the doors are stained. Oh yeah, also waiting to trench the easement for utilities to both our home and our new neighbor's home.  They are waiting til his foundation is poured.  Did I say we have to wait?   Oh well, looking good on the outside!  And based upon our builder's original estimate (mid-December) we are still ahead of the curve.

Small steps

Day 98 I have to laugh, after several days of torrential rains, we finally got the gutters and downspouts put on the house (well, not completely yet, but should finish tomorrow).  They actually construct the gutters on site.  This is the "gutter making machine."  Pretty interesting.

Hard to believe

After 47 years, it's a little hard saying goodbye, but exciting too.

Color

Image
Day 92 Finally seeing some color on the outside of the house!  Really like the red soffits (I'm learning so much about construction.  Even using big words now.)   Now we can see what the stucco over the siding will look like.   And the front door!

Stucco!

Day 90.  The story of the stucco has been a long one, but I think we're finally going to see some color on it!   It's always reassuring to Roy (and me) to see lots of trucks around the house. Speaking of trucks; one of the workers brought his son today, and he's created his own little world of chaos on our easement. (Notice the white one in the brush).   I like it!
